The Band was first known as "Kara's Flowers", and their album the "Fourth World" was their first debut. However, the boys left their recording company (Reprise) in 1999... and soon renamed themselves as what they are currently known for: Maroon 5. As they processed their new name, there was an addition to the band: James Valentine. Valentine was an additional guitarist.
After the band renewed itself with a new name, record labels were attracted to their soul/rock type of music. Soon afterward, Octone Records signed the group in on 2001. After a year of recording, the band were finally done with their newly created album Songs About Jane . Levine said in an interview I wrote all of the songs by myself. I just sat down and wrote about how pissed off I was. The album title was based on Levine's muse and ex-girlfriend: Jane . The band's songs are still in the Hit List of many teens. Their his include: Harder to Breathe, This Love, and their up-coming song She Will Be Loved .
